Purchase budget of $10-$15k. I can try to sell my current 996 40AE and get a 996 turbo or just buy a 951 outright. I loved my old 944 NA when I had it but have enjoyed the reliability of the 996. Car would be a street able track car with coilovers and camber plates but probably not spherical bearings/bushings. I have seen a lot of nice 951s already prepped like this which would be great. I am picky though in that a 951 would have to have LSD and would greatly prefer ABS. I have never driven a 996 turbo but keep hearing about how ridiculous the acceleration is.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

One vote for the turbo.
After much decision I really thought about a 997 gt3 but at double the price I decided to go with the 996tt. It was all ready fully setup with suspension and ecu chip. The car handles great on the track and I can pretty much hang with all the gt3's even while on street tires. It's an amazing car and being such a fast amazing car but being 200-300 lbs heavier then a NA 996 or gt3 it consumes brakes and rotors more quickly. A 951 would cost less to maintain on consumables. Heck even my 996 C4S was easier on brakes even though it is very similar is weight as the tt. Speed really expedites the wear, in which case something my C4S just didn't have much of. So I guess what I am saying it that the 996tt is a perfect street car with a bullet proof engine. It's just modern enough to make it comfortable every day. It's major bang for the buck but when it comes to the track. It cost's more to track it. It's very fast and with a suspension track setup is very sweet and more forgiving then a RWD car. It's not as easy to thrown around but you still can because of having all the extra hp. You must learn to drive it, it is not the same as a 996 or 951, rotation is done more with later braking, trail braking and trail throttle and then getting on the power early.
I say test drive a 996 TT , see how u like one
