Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking for ideas on spare key I must hide key outside locked 996 I will be traveling and want Protection from lost key

POST 2Original post

Do the manual frunk release (see hack for manual frunk release, slit for wire in front intake) and then keep key in trunk.

POST 3Original post

I have the release frunk wire to pull via slit air intake as Cornbread suggested. Other place, is on top of one of the tires.

What's the old joke about being afraid to fly because of a bomb on the plane? Carry a bomb with you. The odds the plane has two bombs on board is astronomical. So, carry two keys. One in each front pocket. The odds of losing both keys has to be astronomical. (I carry the real key in my left front pocket, and the valet key in the right front pocket of my pants.)

POST 5Original post

Non-remote key (valet key) wrapped in plastic wrap and zip-tied underbody or wheel well.

Is this some kind of a joke question??????? . If it is then 'you can hide the spare key up your **** ' ... But don't have a crap in the woods. Not unless you are carrying a metal detector with you. Then when you are driving home you can legitimately say. "You know, loosing that car key really stinks."

No it's not a joke I was hoping for some truly unique idea as to where to hide the key and posdibly a credit card for in case the worst was to happen while 1000 miles from home This question will be answered by a member with a lot of 996 Experience Thanks for trying to help , You've done your best

POST 10Original post

+1 on manual trunk hack. You can hide the key and a credit card IN your frunk, underneath some of the fake carpet. Put it in a little plastic bag inside the spare tire or tire kit, or by the batter, etc. Lots of good places - and it's actually IN the car. -td

Well, I've been 2000 miles from home in my Boxster and Turbo (and other cars) (and one time 6000 or more miles) more times than I can remember. I never hide a key. Like I said I carry two keys. The regular key and the valet key. But I take care to not lose any key. Losing a key even close to home is a (I would guess) a darn inconvenience and a costly one as a replacement key is not cheap. As for a credit card I carry two. I carry in a laptop case photocopies of both cards front and back in case I lose one I can call in an let the credit card company know.
