Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is MT's 'concept' of these cars. Copy reads: "In order to amortize the cost (all the new V8's Porsche will produce) Porsche is studying a second model to be powered by the same engine. Several proposals reportedly are on the table: a V8 super car based off the 06 Boxster. extended Cayenne and pickup truck yada yada yada But the lead candidate is this modern-day 928 code named E2. If this 4 seat front engine coupe gets the greenlight, it'll be offered with the same V8 engine choices as the Cyenne.....It's all fine, as long as the company doesn't bring back the original 924. The 928 upset Porsche purists because it had a water-cooled engine up front. How would they feel about a front-engine car with 911-like styling? Porsche would aim the E2 at the Ferrri 575M Maranello and the Aston Marton Vanquich p and clearly in a direction different from that of the Crrera and Turbo." I love the reference to the "front-engined Pcar haters. Anyway, FWIW here's MT's take.

POST 2Original post

As long as they don't mess with the basic 911 formula, I guess they can pretty much do whatever they like. I wouldn't mind a 928 replacment as I still like that car, as a model unto it's self it'll be great for the folks in the 575m/vantage market. They're going to sell an SUV so this conpect doesn't bother me at all. At least it has two doors and looks sporty and will probably be a great grandtouring car.
