Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would like to remove the manual holder. It is hard to get a look at what type of fastener secures it. I assume its a torx head but my experimenting with sizes has not found the correct fit. Any one aware of the type/size of fastener? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I looked at this once.... it seems you have to take the panels off and go at it from the back. Or, just break the damn thing off. I kept mine since it isnt in my way to much.

POST 3Original post

There are two expansion rivets - you will need to drill them out.

POST 5Original post

Break them off is what I did on my 2000. __________________

or you can press on them from the inside, it should come right out, or just try putting all your manuals in there at once...that'll seperate mine from the dash every time.

POST 7Original post

I wouldnt remove that tray... since MKI's have so few places to store stuff If you buy those really tiny coffee (tea, saki) cups at the Japanese store they fit in there

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all. It explains why the different screw and torx head drivers do not work.......
