Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have never owned a 911. Looking at a 1 owner 2000 996 Cab, 6 spd, Hardtop with 64K. Supposedly dealer maintained its entire live. Carfax seems to confirm this story. Ad states its a AWD / C4. It does have PSM switch on the dash but none of the 4 badging I have seen in photos. I plan to have a PPI done by the local well respected independant shop but was trying to confirm the above details to get a better idea of fair pricing. I have the vin but from the high level review it does not appear 2 vs 4 is identified by a special character. Vin is WPOCA2999YS651862. Thanks for the help.

POST 2Original post

Have you driven the car yet? Complete records? GL

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have not driven it yet. have not looked at the records but car fax shows routine visits to the Local porsche dealership for service.

Thanks. What character distinguishes between c2 vs c4?

POST 6Original post

I don't think there is a specific character on the 996s. It has option code M338, which is "rear wheel drive". M339 would be all wheel drive.

All wheel drive (c4) or rear wheel drive (c2)
