Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just spoke with my dealer and discovered the following: 1. 2002 production is essentially complete on all models. 2. My 2003 996TT is in the Paint Shop. According to my dealer, this is the second step in the production process. Step one: build body/chassis. Step two: paint shop. Step three: final assembly. 3. Although my car is not far from being completed, it may get hung up in the factory shutdown -- my car may not proceed to final assembly immediately after being painted. We should know more next week. 4. There is a pending longshoremen's strike on the West Coast. The longshoremen have voted to allow their union to authorize a strike. Negotiations are proceeding and Bush may intervene, but a strike is very possible. In fact, a strike is so possible that Porsche is making plans to deliver all cars, including West Coast cars, to the East Coast, and truck cars to the West Coast. If you look at the recent shipping schedules, you will note that there are virtually no ships scheduled for San Diego, even though the West Coast accounts for a huge portion of Porsche's sales. 5. The possible longshoremen's strike and resulting altered shipping routes have caused much confusion and many MY02 delivery delays. More to follow. Craig (L.A.)
