Which one do you like the best; Guards, Zanibar or Orient?

POST 2Original post

I like Zanzibar the best because that's the color of my convertible.

POST 4Original post

Orient Red is a beautiful subdued red that really shows off the lines. Here are pics of my 996TT. http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/DSC00921.JPG http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/DSC00912.JPG http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/DSC00908.JPG

POST 5Original post

I like Guards Red the best because that's the color of my Cab on order.

POST 6Original post

I really like the orient red, but I ordered my C4S in that color! I love the turbo pics!

POST 7Original post

Here is my Guards Red. Sidra's Porsche Good Luck!

POST 8Original post

ohsixx, To respond more directly to your question, I personally prefer "Guards Red" in its consideration with "Orient Red Metallic" and "Zanzibar Red Metallic". Guards Red is the most visible of the three so called "Red" colors under various light conditions, a definite safety consideration in a sports car, third in visibility of all the brochure chipped Porsche colors to "Speed Yellow" & "Carrera White". Although beautiful in their own right, I feel that "Orient", a metallic wine shade, & "Zanzibar", a metallic cinnamon shade, are current fashion shades with "Guards" being more of a classic, timeless shade, of some historical significance, having been in the Porsche color lineup, nearly if not actually, from the 911's inception. I feel that you are going to make one of the more discussion forum, focus grouped, car purchase decisions and I look forward to see what you eventually chose. I am sure you will enjoy the car immensely. ReGuards, Richard

POST 9Original post

As an owner of an arctic silver car, I'll give you my .02 as an outsider looking in. I like metallic colors in general. I think they show dirt, swirls, minute scratches less. Metallics also show the car's lines more, and in a variety of lighting conditions. Guards red is one of the classic colors, but non-metallic fades a bit more over time compared to metallics. Also, metallic paints are NC in the C4S, the car I believe you are considering. Between OR and ZR, I like the deep wine character of Orient Red. It is almost guards red in direct sunlight, then mellows to a deep maroon color in the shade and twilight. It almost seems as if there are several depths to the color. Orient Red gets my vote. Isn't it nice to ponder and think about how you can make your dream car come to life? Good luck!

POST 10Original post

DARN! The more I see Orient Red, the more I wonder if I would have chosen it over the Arctic Silver. In my opinion, Orient Red is the most beautiful color I've seen to date! Practicality would still say Arctic Silver, but my heart is screaming out ORIENT!!! ORIENT!!

POST 11Original post

My C4S is Guards Red, but I must say that Orient Red is a very appealing color. Richard in Colorado's comments mirror my sentiments. IMO, the benefits of greater visability outweigh the downside. The Orient Red TT pics in the reply above are beautiful, even in the low light. Can't tell what the interior color is exactly, but the lighter color sets off the exterior quite well. The comments on the advantages of metallic paint are also helpful. Go with your heart.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Some really great comments and terrific pictures. jmmitas and Sidra: Those are some really beautiful cars. Thanks for sharing those pictures. It's coming down to the reds for me. I am planning to place my order the first week of June for a 2003 C4S. I still love yellow and black. Tanya: Your picture is very nice. Is it you?

POST 13Original post

I must say if you do order a C4S I think the Guards red with black interior would look great. Only other factor being is with zanzibar/orient I presume their both metallic colors and from a chip standpoint and you will get them is it's a bit harder to touch up/blend whereas guards red is definitely easier to blend that's something to look as well. I'm kinda partial to guards red anyway just makes the widebody Porsche's really standout. From what I've been hearing and all from previous posts you gotta go for the color you'll really like and not take too much from what other people say. It seems you like yellow/black and I think if you do order the yellow you won't be second guessing yourself that if you did order any of the reds that the yellow one you coulda ordered would have been the better choice. If it's a car that you plan to keep for awhile and don't think too much on the resale part then the choice of color is obvious. But kudos for you choosing the best looking of the 996's out there. Regards and congrats- I'm totally envious of your position : ). Mike

POST 15Original post

Zanzibar- Awesome color, I love it.....first '02 Carrera I saw was Zanzibar and it was a real attention-getter. Guards- I saw a guards red TT at night and it looked stunning under artificial light some of the contours of the car would come out a really deep orange color and it looked badass. Orient- Very gentleman-like color, a bit understated and I like that......jmmitias's car looks like it really means business, very nice. My personal pick, there's no replacement for red: Guards Red. later, amir

POST 16Original post

Can someone post a picture of Zanzibar red metallic Porsche? I'm curious how that compares to my Coral Red

POST 17Original post

Not mine, not anybody else's. You should get a color like Arctic Silver (my favorite), or Orient Red (my choice among the reds), ONLY if you like it BETTER than yellow. If you like shocking pink fuscha (gawd, I hope not), then get it. Life is too short and the car is too d*mn expensive for compromises. LIve it up! BTW, nice, Tanya.

POST 20Original post
