Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought a Used 996 c4 in August of 2001 production date is 6/99 The Sticker on the hood and book list the Engine Code / Transmission code as: M960268x G9630 -10 The number stamped on the engine is: M96/0268x07040 How can I tell the production date of the engine and if it has been replaced. Is the date of my engine after the problems of collant/oil and main seal problems.

POST 2Original post

You might be able to tell roughly from the number but the best way (IMO) is to order the official Porsche Certificate of Authenticity from PCNA. This will give you the original engine number, transmission number and all options that were shipped on the car. For $35 this is great verification. There is usually an ad in Excellence Magazine for this (if not call them at [phone removed]). Loren (99 996)
