Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was driving my 02 ttX50 listening to FM with all buttons preset. As I drove by the local fire station (?irrelevant) all 12 preset FM channles instantly changed to different stations, including the one I was listening to. I thought the radio had lost power momentarily, except that the preset AM channels were not affected. Any ideas? Anyone else have this happen? Thanks AS

Hi, I believe you experienced a radiated immunity problem with your car's onboard audio system. When driving by a RF transmitter, the RF energy will couple into the car's harness and into all connected electonics, in this case your headunit. It is a problem experienced with most car electronics to varying degrees. You can also experience a similar problem if you happen to drive by TV towers or high powered FM transmitters, since the field strength (volts/meter) can be extremely high. Unfortunately, I have to deal with this on a daily basis, since I design OEM audio systems for Porsche and it is a difficult problem to deal with in a vehicle. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

It's either what ltc said, or Elvis is hanging around your neighborhood!
