I would like to hear opinions on aluminum pedal kits for the 996. I am considering a set of Ruf pedals + footrest from Weissach.com Anyone installed these, Techart, Wing, etc?? I have seen some postings on other boards about the small rubber non slip buttons falling out. Thanks in advance.

These would seem virtually useless other than for decorative purposes -- and given the slip issues, p;ossibly dangerous. Additionally, such pedals can be out of character with the elegant look of your car, i.e., gaudy in the middle of well designed restraint.
I agree with Robert, but I'll buy a set that provides "up to 10 hp gain."
Not to sound like an engineer, but even better than a 10HP gain, would be a 50 kg reduction in weight, particularly if largely upsprung and, if possible, at least partially rotating. This would win more races than the HP.
Indeed, MMC wrist pins, saving 30g to 50g per pin (x 6) would be more useful than, e.g., most, if not all, of the fancy air filter packages available.
I don't share your sentiments regarding the "gaudy" appearance a set of RUF aluminum pedals provides. Here are a couple of pics I posted on another thread. As for the rubber inserts falling out, I'll keep you posted, but I haven't heard that complaint before. In fact, the reason I opted for the RUF pedals was because the Techart pedals are clearly more slip-prone. A few vendors I spoke with volunteered that the Techart pedals are really designed for track use in dry conditions. http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S118.JPG http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1212.JPG
Nice Pics. Black interior? Wonder how those pedals would look in a graphite grey interior? Do you remember what you paid and where? I've seen it posted before here and/or CFG's but can't find it. TIA
Brent: From my post under "My Pics - 02 C4S" - I purchased the RUF aluminum pedals from Weissach in Vancouver, BC. I talked with Andrew at [phone removed] and he shipped them directly to the dealer for installation. The cost of the pedals was $299 for the 3-pedal set and $199 for the dead pedal. The pedals were installed in less than an hour. I am told the hardest part of installing the pedals is removing the rubber pads from the brake and clutch pedal prior to mounting the aluminum replacements. The accelerator and dead pedal mount on top of the original pedals.
Thanks for posting the pics. They do look quite nice in your car. I have graphite grey leather with deviating carpet (metropol blue) and I hope they look as nice. I am still undecided as to whether or not to install them myself or have my local Porsche dealer do it for me. Thanks again for the responses
I have the Techart pedals. I find them much better than the rubber pedals. In fact, much less slippery when wet. When I wear shoes with leather soles and it is raining, traction is much better than with the old rubber ones. And the irritating fact that the rubber ones kept wearing out and coming off...
You will find the extra pedal area is easier on the ball of your foot. I have the Techart and they are rough on your shoes since the edge is not rolled, just the raw edge of the alumnium. Ruined my deerskin dress shoes. I won't even wear my Farragamo's. I would not buy TechArt pedal's unless you are going to wear driving shoes or sneakers all the time. The Ruf's look good in the Pic as long as the rolled edge is not sharp. FDR
I think the stock rubber pedals are best from a non-slip surface but IMHO the RUF pedals are thee best nonslip aluminum pedals out there. The rubber inserts on the RUF aids in less slippage and also cosmetically looks great in contrast with the aluminum. I doubt you will see any added advantages performancewise(at least it didn't get worse from the RUF's) to adding aluminum pedals but darn they do look great and I have a set of RUF pedals and I did track on them(Thunderhill) and did not feel any slippage at all. Regards and good luck. Mike
I just put on RUF pedals. Let's face it...most of it is cosmetic. The aluminum/carbon fits nicely with Metro Blue. Sorry website is down, can't show pics
Thanks T. Found Weissach's web site, but no prices were posted. ltc - when you get installed, post pics. Your metropol blue with graphite grey is probably as close to my all graphite grey as I might see. Just not convinced that they'd look as nice on the lighter background of the grey as they do on the black. Brent
Although, as I have said, metal matrix composite wrist pins would serve one better, if one wants the ultimate in metal pedals, here they are -- billet titanium.
I have the techart pedals and I personally find the dimpled brake pedal surface to be an advantage. I don't really have any issue with the sharp edges of the aluminum but then again my car is a tip and so there's little danger of heel/toe or clutch & brake pedal rubbing. Pedals are drilled, textured and look great.
My car is a 6 speed and my size 11 shoes catch the brake pedal often. I may try mounting a rubber pad under the pedal, cut oversized maybe 1/8" all around to fix problem.
Cargraphic pedals for that stock look---but in aluminum.
