Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a good friend who is selling a 1999 996 Coupe with about 100k miles. I dont't have all the options yet but I know it has an aero kit Extensive records. He is the third owner and the second owner is a close friend of his who bought it with about 11k miles on it in 2002. Can you give me some thoughts on what he should expect to get for it in today's market?

IMO, a private sale should bring around $20K-$25, give or take a few Gs based on condition. 100K is considered pretty high mileage, even for a 10 year old car. Better options will yield higher resale as well. -td

POST 3Original post

I'm really horrible at the "how much is it worth" game. However, I have to say I'm not sure I've ever seen a pewter color aero kit car.

POST 4Original post

Since silver is the fastest color, I think it should command a higher price..

POST 5Original post

Cars with half the mileage have asking prices in the $21K - $24K range. As an informed buyer, I'd take those prices and subtract the cost of a new engine. But as a seller I think I'd try something around $18K - $20K.

POST 6Original post

I would exchange the aero bits with another silver car and get an extra thousand or two out of it. OEM aero bits are worth some money.

POST 7Original post

Are you opposed to buying a car with modifications? Non porsche suspension or wheels? I would figure ~22k for that car b/c of aero kit.

POST 8Original post

Unless it has a new motor, I'd guess well under 20k with that mileage! Better to hang on to it (IMO) if he can and enjoy it!

POST 9Original post

$40k and if it was a black non aero with 110k miles then maybe as low as $20k ------ well I can dream right - realisticly, I am in outter space.....err was it the twilight zone? LOL $22K would be a deal -

POST 10Original post

It does not have the following options which may or may not put buyers off: Traction control Litronics 3 spoke steering wheel Truth be told; the reason for such a low price is because of them pumpkins..

POST 12Original post

LSDs are very rare on these cars. I am tempted to sell my car, or at least list it. It is a '99 with 91k miles; factory areo kit, litronics, 3 spoke wheel, sport seats, gt3 suspension, kinesis 18" wheels. I would be looking for $26k.

POST 13Original post

If someone offered me $26K for mine with 84K miles, I would sell tomorrow. If your LSD has not been rebulit, it will have to rebuilt with those miles. P.S. I have the same plus more options than you.

POST 14Original post

Hello, IMHO, there is no way that car will sell for more than $20K. Personally, I would be surprised if it goes for more than $18K. If it has records for recent clutch, brakes, and other service, that would help. Otherwise it doesn't have good options. I think the aero kit doesn't really add value as there are people who don't like it. Good luck, Barry

POST 15Original post

I agree with previous comments. This one probably goes for under $20K due to the mileage and the lack of some of the more desirable options.

Why is that? LSD doesn't light up unless driven to the edge of adhesion. Most of these cars are daily drivers and rarely see what I would call spirited driving. Unless the car was tracked extensively I wouldn't see a need to rebuild it.

POST 17Original post

I would remove the aero kit and put back to stock for a sale. (I would be interested in purchase of the Aero kit if it is Artic Silver)There is no real value gained by selling it with car. I think the car with that many miles will be a 16-18thousand dollar range at most

You can check the condition of your LSD by jacking both of the rear wheel up and move it. If it still works, then its your gain. Reason for my comment is because there are many 993 owners who had their LSD rebuilt with around 99K miles and finding them not working.
