Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

obviously from Seattle....that's the freeway on-ramp

POST 6Original post

PSM hinders more then helps in this circumstance.

POST 7Original post

Wonder how much his clutche was abused in that short amount of time?

POST 8Original post

Second gear start would have been better. And he should have tried to back it up the little hill behind him once he had it sideways and then try a run at the road. Definitely not Seattle. Some place in England - right hand drive 996, and speaker has British accent. Too green and wet for Austrailia.

POST 10Original post

Why didn't his a-hole friend put the camera down and go help by pushing the car out?

My WAG is tire smoke. He was spinning the far side's rear tire and it got overheated and started smoking/steaming. There might have been some steam coming from water or whatever being splashed on the hot exhaust. The driver obviously was not aware of the technique of rocking the car to get it out of that situation. Might add I like to carry a long nylon tow strap that I can connect to the tow eye bolt and another vehicle to pull my car out of the snowy ditch, or off a patch of ice, or even out of the weeds should I be so unlucky. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 14Original post

I think the "smoke" is wet dirt on the muffler = steam as the car is warming up

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Let me blur the issue with fact... It's clutch smoke. The revolutions hit the rev limiter and that may cause smoke also. The video was taken in the UK. The owner has burnt his clutch and over revved his engine. This owner can only be an 'aspirational buyer', there's just no way an enthusiast would do this to his car.

POST 18Original post

Yeah, the smoke is not tire but I am sure if we had a smell-video it will be smelling burn clutch big time! I cannot believe there are people out there doing this to their cars

POST 20Original post

Oh my... Reminds me of a Vette burnout video i saw a while ago...

POST 21Original post

The wonderful modern chums that would rather youtube video than help out. A simple push would of helped.

I thought so as well because the smoke seemed to be coming from beneath the car and continued even after the vehicle was stopped. I can only imagine the smell there and the cost of repairs for that little incident.
