Im planning on buying a 2002 C2 convertible. Right now, I see certified ones going for about 60k with <25k miles. When Im ready to buy one in the winter, what kind of price drop can I expect to see? I live in So Cal so the weather will always be decent but I expect the price to soften compared to the summer time. Ill be willing to drive 500+ miles to find a good deal on one. Will I be able to buy a certified one in the low-mid 50k range? Thanks for the help. Scott

Possible in the 50's. I just found my friend one at about 60K and it had 7500 miles and was full leather and nicely optioned. The deals are out there.
I bought mine in December from a dealer in Rhode Island. Don't be afraid to go to somewhere where the cars are covered in snow. Those dealers will be motivated to do a deal on a cab. Then you can have it shipped out.
You can get it around $55-57k in CA. They will depreciate at year end bc warranty will be completely gone (for most 02), not purely for winter reason. If the car you are seeing is heavily optioned, it sounds like a sweet deal which I'd go for it now
Still should have a PPI done, and see if all the necessary TSBs were accomplished.
as all have stated ...you will always get a better deal on any sports car..especially convertables in the beginning of winter..Dec/Jan another reason is that the car has become "one year older" in terms of depreciation so you are catching it right when it drops
As a data point, I recently picked up a 2002 C4 Cab with 25,000 mi nicely optioned with Adv. Technic, Navigation, Heated Seats, Full Leather, Sport Design Wheels for $59,000. The key is finding the car you want and a motivated seller. Snow on a Porsche is usally pretty good motivation, I would think! Best wishes, David
M5guru, that's a real awesome deal on a C4 cab loaded. 3rd party sale is the cheapest since their alternative is often a low trade in value. Color also plays a factor in resell value.
I've never understood the color issue unless it is truly something unusual like purple, pink, lime green, etc. For the rest it would seem that you could wait for the right person to come along who values that color. I know that there were a couple of dealers who hung on to that belief and would not accept any of my (not too unreasonable! :-) offers that were a little bit lower because they weren't one of my preferred colors. I don't know if they eventually got the extra couple of grand they were looking for, but they certainly were not caving in to me. David
m5guru. That is a great price. I have been looking as well and I think I will wait until winter. I am also looking at C4S cabs, but most are around $85,000 now. It is amazing how much more they are going for than the C4's. I think I could live without the J-Lo rear, put in supercharger, upgraded suspension, and better breaks in a C4 cab for a bit less than a C4S would cost me. Damn, I haven't even bought my first Porsche yet and this forum already has me planning my first mods.
