Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ideas? If you've done all the normal common sense things like checking fuses and turning off the car and restarting and still the top is still silent, then... Save yourself a lot of heartache and take it to a convertible shop that has experience working with these complex systems. Too many people I know have tried and regret the day they tried to "fix" their convertible top mechanisms. Even Jake Raby will tell you it's about the only time he'll advise you to take it back to Porsche for repair. Good luck!

POST 3Original post

If you looked at the most obvious things, maybe the motor is KAPUT.

POST 5Original post

Have you tried the key in the drivers door method? hold left to open/lower. Hold right to close/up the top. Could be a glitch in the system.

POST 6Original post

We need some more detailed information if you want some ideas on what to try next. What's the exact sequence that happens/doesn't happen. i.e. press button, windows go down, clamshell (tonneau?) opens... and then what? Did the side flaps move? How do you know the windshield clamp works if the top won't move? Anyway, if you moved the top manually via the hand crank method, you are going to need to go to a Porsche dealer (or properly equipped indy) to have the top recalibrated anyway. (after the current problem is fixed.) Maybe the suggestion of heading to an expert isn't a bad one.
