I was wondering if anybody has put them on a stock 996 (02'). Since it's not a widebody would it look cheesy. Thanks for any input.

If you install them, the only thing people will be wondering is "was he trying to imitate a Turbo or a Boxster?" Cheesy!
yeah - where would the air go? On the boxster, it's the intake on one side and the compartment blower on the other side (which we have under the engine lid). On the turbo, it's for the intercoolers. If you want that look, get a turbo or a boxster.

A past user here had a car with it done... 100% cheesy
get a hood scoop too!!

and a GT2 wing!
YEA DAWG !!
It would make the car instant ghetto fabooluss!!
Each to his own in terms of taste. The member here that did it has lots of other mods done on his car. The ducts are not my cup of tea but if you like them I would say go for it. I don't like the big fixed wings but there are plenty of owners (including our moderator Marc) that have stuck them on their cars. I guess there is a little bit of a functionality to the wings, for all the time you are going 100+ plus
I dont know about Marc...but my car sees 100+ on a very consistent basis - I have yet to add some Aero bits to the 3.2 but can tell you it gets a little floaty above 120, the new (read bigger) Tbars made a huge improvement in that....she hugs better but some down force would be nice (in the front)

Hey, the wing is totally functional under 100+ , At car meets its a great place to put your coffee and bagel.
Ping Pong anyone
Also makes a fine ironing board!
Marc, I thought your rear spoiler was the OEM MK II Aero spoiler. Is it something else?
Quotes source post: 8972251
It is indeed a MK II Aerokit spoiler.

Thanks Guys, Seems like EVERYBODY agrees on this one. Just thought I would ask to be sure.
Anyone up for a group buy? Ed?...

I'm sorry Guys, but TO ME a stock 996 just looks Plain Jane, it's not one of those cars you see going down the road is gonna make you stop & go wow. I've always been a wing type guy & when I had the stock one on I kept it up at all times to give it some resemblance of a sports car. A stock 996 blends right in, in any crowd! JMO

Mr jones, that is the exact beauty of the 911, 996, 9 whatever... you think it blends right in because you own it. Most other drivers know exactly what a Porsche is. ok, so they might confuse the 996.1 with a Boxster from some angles. If you are fortunate enough to own a GT3RS, you have been to the promised land. That car is what you want if you like wings and associated items on a Porsche. The basic 911 is just that..plain, but still a great ride. there are sooo many variations, you can choose them and even some of the non OEM stuff is cool. just keep it tasteful. Appreciate what you have, upgrade when the time is right. Just DON'T mess up a Porsche with the wrong mods. Honor the Porsche heritage, or be banned a heretic! FWIW, on your car, an Aerokit might be a good choice for starters. Do you have any exhaust mods ( Fister D's, headers, PSE?)
No, but FisterD is what I've been thinking about doing next. Believe me I learned a lil' bit about the heritage a few years back when I was just looking & testing the waters & asked a question about some of the older turbo look models that had one of those Renegade Kits on it (the Porsche body with the Vette motor) I thought the cars looked really nice, but I found out quick in the Porsche purists world that was a big no-no. Almost sacrilegious, but also in the Porsche Purists world, the 996 is not even a real porsche either! jmo

The 996 is real Porsche, just not a real 911 They have not made one of those since 1989
Air ducts are a huge waste of money.

strike the "almost" and you have got it
A guy on 6speedonline did that to his red 996, check out that forum. His Porsche was in Total911 as well.

You will enjoy the FisterD's. best bang for the buck; great sound improvement. combine that with some Headers, hi-flow cats, CAI...(maybe a flash, but the cost per HP is not the best).. you're on your way... then raise a toast....

2K996MIA, I'll probably just get the FisterD's & hi-flow cats because I really can't justify the $$ for HP (like you said) .Besides, I want to keep it pretty much stock & dependable. If I have a need for speed, I have a Dodge Viper (& I pretty much know what most of the guys on here think about them). But, I have to tell you I love it as much as I do my 996, it just depends on what you're wanting on that particular day. As everybody knows the Viper is about as crude & raw as a street car gets (its just a plain out beast), just the opposite as the 996 as far the driving & handling goes, but at least I get to decide what mood I'm in for that day. jmo
