I would like to get the rear LED brake light on my aftermarket engine lid working. My car used to have a third upper brake light, but I have the body shop remove it and fill it in a long time ago, and I cannot see any leftover wires from where the light was removed. I would like to splice into one of my rear break lights. I have located the bulb and there are three wires going to it. BROWN, RED and BLACK. Which two should I splice into to get my third brake light hooked up?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Brown is ground and black is the brake light so you need those two. Red is the side marker.
