Well, I guess my 996 experience has come to an end. I didn't have to sell it, but ran out of garage space and a new baby coming (don't want a car that I can't take the whole family out in) I sold it on my own conditions. Got exact price I wanted - i'm one of those non-negotiators. What my price is is what you'll pay. What I found out in listing the car was that there are a ton of tire kickers out there. Not even younger guys, but older folks who seems like they just wanted to come over and talk cars. I don't mind that so much, but my time is pretty is pretty limited. Some came out obviously because they just wanted to drive a 911. Some came out to 'compare' with their current car, and see if they can justify the replacement. Alas, the right buyer came along who is an obvious enthusiast and car guy. Love that. Anyways, thanks for all the information and entertainment here. I'm a research freak, and before I bought my 996, I actually read the whole 996 section of the forum starting from page 1 All the information I found was invaluable in what to look for in searching for my 996. I may return to the P car world sometime in the future!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. I will miss it for sure, but have other interesting cars to drive.
Don't be a stranger Stan! I'm in the same boat. But I've already started saving up my "Porsche fund" and began sending out radar pulses for another one. Hopefully this time nice year, I'll be driving another one.

Thanks man! I am on a bunch of other car specific forums, and I have to say, the wealth of knowledge on this specific forum is 2nd to none.
Ummm.... https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...names-etc.html Glad you got what you wanted and are happy with the sale though. We all make choices for various reasons and the important part is that we are happy with them. Who knows, maybe you'll be back

A front facing seat or booster is no problem. I had one for my toddler. But those new contraption rear facing newborn seats are a whole new level of big. Even mid size sedans have a bit of problem with them.
pretty car, I'm a little bummed a car club member out my way wasn't able to grab it. The world needs more white Carreras.

Yeah. The passenger in the Cayenne had to have their knees crammed in the dashboard with my son's seat behind them So the answer is kid in the front seat and wife in the back. At least it's your car though. Our 996 is her's so you can imagine how that conversation went Yes I ride in back when it's all 3 of us...
^^Yea, it's rare to see a white one. Most are arctic silver or black. The worst color is guards red, not because of the color, but because of what it does to the owners. hahaha
"arrest me red"
I love white!
That was my one reservation for wanting to keep it. I looooved that it was white, 6speed, and only 60k miles. The last month or so, it was just sitting in the driveway, and would just collect dirt. If I had the means for easily accessible indoor storage, and the time to tinker with it--I would have kept it for sure. I love that the new owner is driving it, and treating it with care though. I knew for a long time that the 'clean' 996s are becoming very rare and possibly appreciate one day. I think he was surprised that I had polished it prior to delivery. I never saw it as a car i'm selling, but rather a piece of fine machinery that i'm passing on.

Agreed. I love the white. The only other color I wanted. Timing...
+1 on the white.
