Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To those naysayers on the 996 original headlights...check out the 5 most expensive Porsches ever and make a note of #3 https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/hist...ies-16543.html

POST 3Original post

Was working @Jim Ellis Porsche when the first 996 was delivered, loved the look and never understood the hate.

Ditto! Very reason (IMHO) they should NEVER be covered in shame. The most radical, unique designs in the entire 911 family.

POST 7Original post

Funny how you don't see guys in the GT1 forum looking for updated headlight covers

POST 8Original post

Personally I thought the 996.1 headlights were a nice improvement from the get-go, I just shook my head at the haters..lol

POST 9Original post

The Gt1 is exactly why I love 996 headlights how could you not like these lights....my forever car.

POST 10Original post

The 996 is a great looking car. Very well proportioned. I may get crucified for this, but to my mind the ugliest 911 was the 959. The front is awkward and the back end always looked like a bad kit car spoiler tacked on, like a ferrari 348 based on a Fiero...

I always thought the 914 was the bastard child of the Porsche family, but what was original seen as the ugly duckling is now the beautiful swan. Have you seen the market prices on those things? Oh, I agree the 959 is an unusual design. The rear flared fenders remind me of a dually truck.

POST 13Original post

I always got a kick out of the fact that the most expensive Porsche in the late 80's (959) had the same steering wheel as my 944!

I was thinking the the same thing seeing that pic. So many people gush over it. It was a proof-of-concept car. Certainly not a benchmark for the series. Any production 911 is much more desirable to me. $.02 TC
