Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello. Proud new owner of 2000 911 Cabrio. Vents don't close so looked at all actuators. the passenger side actuator (call the Central Air Actuator on the Porsche Parts website) has two moving parts. Am arm and also a gear that fits into a socket in the air box. When removed from the installation both moving parts work fine. When installed, the gear doesn't move and sounds like the gears are slipping. Question is what does the large gear control? Is so could that be stuck causing the gear part of the actuator to just pop? I am going to remove the heater core to re-cover the blend door which I see through the heater vent has no foam cover any more. Last question: the heater vent door actuator (the one on the side of the air box on drivers side) moves the heater door very well. the actuator also has an arm that extends out and looks like something should attach to it. Any idea if anything attaches? Wondered if the previous owner knocked something off during the radio upgrade.......HELP? I've looked online for weeks and cant find a detailed description of the air box and how it functions......
