Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hope Charles Navarro doesn't mind me sharing his post this morning on the intermediate shaft. I really love reading his technical articles on the research he continues to carry out on the M96 and M97 engines as well as the more modern 9A1 engines. But since I don't own a new Porsche, I've always been interested in the older stuff especially the M96. It seems to me (correct me if I'm wrong) that many people confuse the intermediate shaft with the bearing. How many times have you heard someone dog out the "horrible IMS" when they are really talking about the IMSB? Charles shows clearly in this short post that the intermediate shaft has taken a bad rap from the bearing problem, but in reality, the intermediate is actually a good thing? Something that Porsche recognized as a positive component in Porsche engine going back to the original Carrera 2.0 aircooled motor? I would love to know your thoughts. Thank you Charles Navarro of LN Engineering for taking the time to write this clear and concise article on the intermediate shaft as well as for producing products the improve and extended the life of our engines!
