Hi everyone Sounds like a newb question but I would like to find a safe way to crank-up the engine without firing-it up. Do you think removing the fuel pump fuse ( 30A Located C4 in the fuse box) will do it. I just want to create oil pressure in the system before the first spring start-up Some people are talking about the fuel pump relay being faulty and the car wont start but I guess removing the fuse will create the same result? Im asking about the fuse just because its more accessible than the relay and I want to save my poor back... If you guys have better solutions to create oil pressure in the engine without firing-it up Im all hears. Thanks

Just crank the engine and turn it off as soon as it catches. Repeat until you see oil pressure then let it run. That's Jake's method.

I agree with that method. Gerotor oil pumps don't really operate well at the slow speeds the starter provides. By letting the motor "catch" for a second the rpm flare before cutting the ignition off does an excellent job of getting the oil moving and pressure built. Usually it only takes a couple of times before you will have plenty of pressure. On GM LS motors, you can crank them for a solid minute straight and just barely get any pressure registering, but let them fire off and you will have strong pressure in a couple seconds.
It totally make sense. So while getting oil pressure faster it seems you also reduce the number of rotations without oil pressure by using this method? I guess cranking an engine for a minute without oil pressure isn't really good...I figured 15sec would have been enough
