POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While wading through all of the want ads (and if you've visited the "Found it on Craigslist Today" thread, you can tell that's what I've been doing), I've really started to like Cobalt Blue (in addition to Guards Red, Speed Yellow and Seal Gray). But, anything except a black interior is a deal killer for me. It seems like all of the Cobalt Blue cars have either gray or saddle interior. After searching for just pictures of 996s in Cobalt Blue, the only ones I see with black interior are in the UK. So, my question is, has anybody seen a Cobalt Blue over Black interior 996 (NA or Turbo) in the US? Is it a unicorn?

POST 2Original post

I just saw some pictures of cobalt blue looks gorgeous. I wonder how different it is from lapis blue.

POST 3Original post

Based on me looking over various 4sale ads over the past 5 years and not coming across any in that color combo, I'd say it's a Unicorn. You maybe better off buying a Cobalt blue car and redoing the interior. Maybe contact Paul Waterloo here for various tips as he's converted his whole interior to "Coach" edition.

POST 4Original post

I sold my Cobalt Blue over black 996 GT3 in 2010. So yes, they do exist. Why did I sell that car??

POST 5Original post

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a 996 Cobalt Blue GT3 model. Was that a custom order or Porsche exclusive? I doubt you have the window sticker but I'd be curious if there wasn't another line item for paint in there somewhere.

POST 6Original post

I also had a cobalt blue 996 (2002 C2) with a black exterior, and just sold it. When it was really dirty (which was most of the time), the dirt made it look like it had slight purple tint to it. But when it was clean, it was an awesome color, and significantly better than any of the other shades of blue I have seen on 996s or Boxtsers of that era. Now that I think about it, it was a rare color. I'm a little surprised it was not more popular. b-man

POST 8Original post

I believe it was 2002 when the Cobalt Blue became an option for Porsche, $3,000 option that is. Tan seems to be the "correct" interior color pairing for blue paint. Dispite my 6 month search for my wife's 2007 IS350 we had to accept the cashmere interior to get it in Black Sapphire Pearl. The most beautiful paint I have ever seen & big reason we choose that car.

Once you get that '16 GT4, you'll stop asking yourself that question.

I didn't buy it new, actually. I got in early 2005 and it was about a year old. I vaguely remember it being around $3k on the sticker in the ad for the car when I bought it.

Good find. Metropol blue interior, but that's close enuf to black for me. I actually like the gray and the tan interiors, but they just don't hold up nearly as well as black. Good to know the unicorn does exist. Now to just find one. Or one in guards red or speed yellow or even seal gray (if the seal gray has the right mods).

POST 12Original post

The St drove one before I bought my seal Grey c4s. Did not pass the PPI so I passed... But I loved the color combo

POST 13Original post

I have 2003 C4S in cobalt blue over graphite gray. I wanted black but the gray is actually a great match for the blue and is holding up very well.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 12261992

I hope you are right. Of course, if they offered PTS, I might have gotten Cobalt actually.

POST 15Original post

Zenith blue on a mk2 is a unicorn...i don't think i've ever seen that one. Quite a few zenith mk1's though 996 natural grey leather is pretty much black. I searched over 3 years for a cobalt/black when i came across cobalt/natural grey and was sold on it. I'll post some pics of lapis vs. zenith and lapis vs. cobalt and some natural gray also.

How about Zanzibar Red ?

Zanzi, we all love your car and especially your garage

Love that color. I've seen a darker metallic Orange on the M5s that I just think is gorgeous.

POST 20Original post

Cobalt blue is definitely a nice color. I can see why there are hardly any with black interior. Kind of like lapis blue or midnight blue with black interior -- black just doesn't go with blue exterior unless it's a light blue.

POST 23Original post

996.2 C2 in Cobalt Blue owner here. A lot of people hit the nail on the head - it is indeed a rare colour. I have only seen another Cobalt Blue 996 (or Cobalt Blue Porsche for the matter) here in Vancouver. I even managed to park right behind it one evening. Interestingly enough, it had a black interior.

POST 24Original post

Cobalt Blue on black exists and I've seen 2 in the states, both 996 C4S's. I just sold my C4S and it was Cobalt Blue on Graphite Grey. Approx 3K option for the paint.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all of the replies. Atrox - Love the Fuchs replicas.

POST 26Original post

kcattorney, Went out for some pizza last night. Here's another shot of my Cobalt Blue 996 (albeit not black interior.) Nice dog!

POST 28Original post

Here's every 996 911 I could find nationally when I was buying a few months ago. Blue on Black is really rare, this is every single one that was for sale under $30k. 996 911s for sale with options/color/mileage/history

Oh, I think that'll buff right out. Too bad it's a cab or I'd be all over that!

POST 32Original post

not a 996, but CB over Black not sure what to make of the pricing http://www.diamondmotorworks.com/det...-13134708.html

POST 33Original post

Seems like avg dealer pricing considering the mileage. It would've been more attractive at that price if it was a 3.8L S model though...

POST 34Original post

natural grey....I've always wanted black but natural grey is very close and looks better than metropol blue which is also very dark like black 20150527_172050_zpsdsx6gxv2.jpg 20150527_172023_zps5zrz2mkn.jpg

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's a great looking car. And a "no haggle" price to boot!
