Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Great job! I know you (Jake) takes some heat over these info videos, but please, please, understand that there are many out there that truly appreciate the efforts and information. Thank you!
Thank you Jake for the continued education!
Big thanks for Jake and PCA for doing these videos. I have a question regarding the explanation of the stage 3 failure. In the video, it said a leak around the IMS flange was a sign of this. My car was leaking at the flange but was only stage 1 (compromised bearing seal). The leak was from a shrunken seal on the flange. I was just wondering if you have seen situations like mine when working on these engines?
Thank you Jake for taking the time to do this.

It sounds like your leak was from the outer diameter flange seal, not the inner diameter O ring? It would be possible to have a Stage 1 failure with an oil leak as a symptom... JTT, all of us here urged Jake to shoot these videos. They have helped so much with the phone calls that we receive, and the general knowledge of those who are calling us. You probably wont see anything like these again, though we all keep begging him to start a youtube channel. His response lll get right on that....... as soon as Hell freezes over

Correct, I didn't see much residue around the center bolt it was all around the outside of the flange. Thanks for clarifying!

Sure... The outer seal of the flange leaking is common, and not to be confused with a leak created by a failing IMSB. It is a good time to perform an IMS Retrofit, if you have to address a leaky flange seal, though..
Thanks Jake! Appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge.
Thank you for another great informative video! I have a questions: for 2006-2008 997, I read on here that the only preventative maintenance is to remove the seal on the IMS bearing since you can't replace them without opening the motor. If this is the right thing to do, wouldn't this be in the same stage 3 scenario?
