I pulled my axle to do front wheel bearings and found that somewhere along the way someone buggered the threads for the 32mm nut. The CV joint and boot were fine. I just need a good stub. Could take the whole thing but easier to ship if it's chopped or disassembled.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone with a bad boot or CV joint? As long as it has good threads it will be fine. I don't know how they botched these threads so badly. It's not like it doesn't hold your front wheel on or anything.
You can get new aftermarket axles for short money on Amazon. Perhaps swap the outer CV off one of those? Also might post in the Turbo forum. Lots of RWD converted cars there.
I will take a look. Not sure if the quality standards are adequate but it's not really particularly advanced technology. Might post on the turbo forum too. Mixed reports on how difficult it is to separate the outer CV joint. I'd like to hear from the people who say it is easy peasy.

From the pic, looks like only the area beyond/past the end of the nuts threads are damaged beyond repair. ? If so, depending on how easy a new nut spins on the axle stub, might be able to easily fix the threads that matter, if needed. With a small file or a (large) die. As long as the nut spins on easy and gets to full nut on good threads and torques correctly, should be good to go.... https://www.mactools.com/products/54-2679-0005
Yes, I think it gets into the good threads by the time it's fully twerked or torqued. I would prefer knowing that the threads are solid although I did think it might work as you said. Complete new axle assemblies are not a bad idea. Really pleased that this car has great fasteners. I think it's been indoors a lot. Muscling the 32 mm nut off the axle was not very dramatic, although I'd like to think it's because of my shear determination and athleticism. Also, the axle came free with just a couple light love taps and without disassembling the lower control arm or any suspension.
