Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have found 2 My99 cabs, please give me your opinions. 1st one has 52k. I just had a pre-purchase inspection. The airbag light problem. Dealer say about 500.00 to fix. The airbag fix was also done 2 years ago same dealer. the storage hood latch needs adjusting, the top drains need blowing out, the rear bumper has been replaced, that's the only paint work on the car. the owners said someone backed into it while it was parked. New tires. No leaks (RMS) always been serviced at the dealer on time maint. Hard top included. 32.5k Car was sold and serviced at same dealer twice. 2 owner car. Build date of car is 11/98 2nd car has 62k. I will have the pre-purchase on Monday. Airbag fix already done. New clutch about four months ago. 2 new oxygen sensor. RMS seal with new clutch. Just had serviced 60k. Owner states no leaks. Hard top included. 3 owners. No paint work according to present owner. 32.9k Both cars are the same color with almost same options. The 1st car has light grey interior and the second one has space grey. Thanks for any help and advice Sold 94 nsx to buy 996 Cab

POST 2Original post

I would start with an '02 for the HP, glass window, and glove box to start.

POST 3Original post

An '02 is a better car, but would cost nearly $25k more....thats a hell of a difference. He could go aftermarket for a chip, intake, headers, and exhaust for $6k and make up the HP difference. All things beings close to equal, I'd say buy #1....less miles, no history of RMS (they tend to be repeat problems), and the PPI is already done.

POST 4Original post

Yeah, I guess either one is ok. But neither one really jumps out as a great deal. You might keep looking and find a different car with lower miles that didn't have any problems for not much more money. But if you have already looked around and those are the only cars in your area, I'd probably go with #1 depending on how well the paint matches, etc. but it's almost a coin flip.
