Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just drove by Protechnik's shop and they are shut down. A great indy shop five minutes from my house and as soon as I need them - they're gone. I started my car the other day and it made a horrible clattering noise. I shut it down, thought for a moment about the IMS, and decided to restart it. Now it just makes a metallic knocking sound like a rod bearing. Anyway, I had it towed to the dealer which incidently is across the street from Protechnik. Luckily I have a 2 yr/24k aftermarket warranty that expires in 3500 miles so if it's something bad I'll just make it. I guess if something major is going to break better now than later...

POST 3Original post

Sometimes timing is everything. GL with a fix.

POST 4Original post

Yep. They closed about 2 months ago now, give or take a few weeks. There are other good independents in Houston if you decide not to stay at the dealer. Just ask on here for referals.

Is that "Swiss" garage still open? Don't remember the exact name bought know the mechanic was Swiss and I think it had Swiss in the name.

POST 9Original post

I hear good the about Steve Ott at Drives Source and Akram at Motorwerks. Both are super nice and work on a lot of Texas Mile cars.

We have not really met. I know of you through a friend and was sort of hanging around listening while you and he were discussing his 964 at TWS. I do need to find a shop to work on my car. For some reason, I thought you just did air cooled. I will stop by your shop sometime.

Did I miss something? Do you have a shop somewhere?

Google Viking Motorsports Houston and you will find him. I have not used his shop; no affiliation; and so forth.

POST 15Original post

Actually you will not find him with Google. That's an old listing of a shop that is no longer open. I'd suggest you PM him for information.

POST 16Original post

I use Akram at Motorwerks (59 and Fountain View) - could not be happier with the service experience and quality.

Is there some reason that info can't be divulged here, now? It just seems odd it would be all hush, hush, and private messages. A violation of a forum rule perhaps...

POST 18Original post

If he has a shop, but isnt a sponser, then he couldnt post advertising it. :-)
