Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i just did my rear brake pads and did not insert the brake pad sensor back in cause they fell apart. so instead i just tied them up. i thought the brake pad sensor light in the car would go off. do i have to pull the little sensors completely off to get the brake wear light to shut off ? thanks v-tach

POST 2Original post

you need to remove it completely. The problem is you have broken the circuit on the sensor and as long as it is connected you will have a brake light.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks buddy ! i thought that was it... v-tach

POST 5Original post

If the brake sensor had been intact (the brake warning light having not activated), it would have been okay to tie it up and out of the way. I installed Hawk HPS pads this weekend, and as they (currently) are not drilled for sensors, I tie-wrapped the sensors to the hard hydraulic line. No problems.
