Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am thinking of trading my wifes 2003 G500 in for a 2004 Cayenne Turbo for 46K it only has 28K miles on it. Are there any issues on these? What should I look for. I will get it PPI'd at the dealer but was just wondering if I should be on the look out for potential problems??

POST 2Original post

Have you tried the Cayenne forum? 2003 and 2004 had lots of issues that first model years typically have. Most of these were solved in 2005 model year so might be worthwhile to wait. Alternatively, make sure you get CPO with extended warranty. You will love it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I posted there. What type of problems? They have 05's as well for not much more 5-8K

POST 4Original post

that's a lot of money for a toureag or however u spell it and the thing is, the VW is much better looking not that it's hard to make the already ugly cayenne purty

Mostly electrical and stuff. Nothing major mechanically (unlike the failed engine in my previous M3!) but real annoyances.

HTML Code: riad Reid, that's a nice family truckster! The G is giving me greif looking for another SUV so I figured it is that or another Range Rover....

I'd drive it. Better than my wife's Lexus... that thing can't get out of its own way.

POST 10Original post

The difference between my wifes LX470 and a Cayenne....the Lexus is comfortable AND tows my 25' trailer and race car. Every Cayenne I have ever been in gives me a back ache. Must be old age setting in?

POST 11Original post

Take a look at the Range Rover too - I drove both before buying the Rover for my wife. I feel like it drives more like a Porsche than the Cayenne does - sounds odd, but it does. I am on the taller side (6'2") and the Rover has SOOO much more head room and I can stretch my left leg out all the way in the front foot well. A real bonus on road trips. And the 05's can be a bargain now - stick to 2005 and newer - they made a lot of changes that year forward to the nav, stereo and engine. Another thing that scared me off the Cayenne is the $1400 brake jobs, but the one for the Rover is not much better. Good luck

POST 12Original post

Hi, I recently picked up a 2005 Cayenne "S" and love it. Do you really need a turbo? Go newer without the headaches. The "S" is fast enough and will be cheaper to insure if that is an issue. I am 6'3" and have no size problems although I would not want to sit behind me for too long. 340 horsepower is pretty good for a wagon? Steve

Thanks for all the help went with a 2004 Range Rover. Wife thought the CTT was too small... Thanks for all the input.

POST 14Original post

Congrats - Pics please. You will be happy with the Rover, especially in the winter time out there. We love ours. It is "quirky" though, so keep your eye on it. And sign up at RangeRovers.net - good site with lots of info.

+1 I also agree that the Toureg (worst name ever) is nicer looking and cheaper. I also think that the Cayenne (second worst name ever) is one of the ugliest SUV's around. The Range Rover is much nicer looking. Good luck with it!

Man, if that's the only difference you noticed between a Cayenne and an LX470, you can't be looking very hard. I'll admit to having never driven an LX470 or Land Cruiser, but I can't believe there's any way that it would handle as well as a Cayenne.
