Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings to All, especially those who I have not "spoken to" via The List for a few years. My car is in Adrian's 996 book on pages 337, 351, 353, 355, 381, 410, 421, 630. That was Hillary. She lives nearby and was a big giggle for those photos. My left side (passenger) window does not want to work. I emailed Adrian and he advised the cable drive transmission is broken. When I press the window button to get it to go down, the window moves down a tiny, tiny fraction down and when I press the window button to get it to go up, the window moves up the same tiny fraction. There is no whirring sound at all. The window is (stuck) in the up position, which is very fortunate. Better than down, hey! Adrian advised me not to remove the door trim because with the airbag in there it's way too dangerous, so I didn't do any of that. A friend also said "Yeah, you can kill yourself or blow off a hand.". Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what was the fix? What parts are needed? Best Regards from Sunny Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. I will be over your way (USA) in about 7 weeks for a week. I am going to a Seawind Splash-In in North Carolina. I could collect parts while there if that's a good option. We have an authorised Porsche Dealer here in Darwin, so I could hand them a part and say "Please install that." Thanks in advance, Paul MY04 996 Cabriolet Black/Black fun machine with genuine Australian black sheepskin seat covers
