greeting - tried this in OT, but didn't get much help... I'm looking at two MB CLK's for my girlfriend: both 2003's. 1: CLK 500 with 48k miles, otherwise perfect condition. $39k. At a dealer, but NOT Certified at that price - its available as an extra 1800 for the first 'extra' year of coverage. Without purchasing the extra warranty, it'll be out of coverage VERY soon. 2: CLK 320 with 27k miles, same great condition. $38k. At a dealer as well, but IS certified at that price. AND....has 2+ years of warranty LEFT.... no doubt, the 500 is a monster and a great car, but would i be better served with the smaller motor, but way less miles which equal longer factory warranty at no extra cost??? anyone have experience with both the 320 and 500 - would i really miss the extra ponies of the 500??? seems to me that (in this situation) the 320 is the better buy based on the fact that I feel the factory warranty length is important...... (she drives a max of about 10k miles/year) thanks!

Having driving both and given the price/mileage spread, go with the 500...a great little rocket. Have everything you can done and looked at before the warranty runs out and let her enjoy it. Super Florida car.. Can't comment on price given I am in a different currency and marketplace.
My .02 is go with the 320. My bride had one (4 yr @10K per yr), she drives slow (normal) and she found the power very adequate. We're getting her a new one (320). I have driven other MBZ 500s and found the extra weight ponderous. Perhaps the gearing in the 320 makes is feel more responsive (not faster overall).
thats interesting. haven't thought about the different gearing. she's in a honda accord (11 years old - gasp) and really need to do a back-to-back comparison of the 320 and 500.
I would shop around for a CLK500 with less mileage. Check ebay or MBUSA site, there are plenty in the market.
yeah - but 40k is the top end for us. this 500 happens to be the cheapest 500 listed on the MBUSA search site. haven't checked ebay (yet) but nothing in the 500's shows on carmax... thanks!

Go with the 320 because of the longer warranty and fewer miles. My friend has a clk55amg and has been in the shop several times for minor nuisances and is thinking about getting rid of it after the warranty is up. Bobby
My wife owns a CLK55 ///AMG - get the 500 - they are heavy cars the and 3.2 is a pig period - MB makes a very nice V8 - I love the AMG engine (wish I could shoehorn that baby into my Targa) but like chitownbob mentioned - many service visit - many gremilns big time - nothing big, but want a PITA for 80K coupe - HELLO MB! Never again I say and my baby agrees.
