Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got the car on the scales today: 2870 with a 1/4 tank of gas. JimB, Just a few pounds off the target. But since I have been on a diet for a month or two, I think I will be within 35 lbs of the class limit, which is 3060. I think there are still many opportunities to remove weight, but I am close enough for the first race. The good thing is, it still looks like a nice, complete car.

POST 2Original post

Congratulations on losing so much weight(for your car).Must feel good to be on track regarding a target weight for the track, keep the info coming.

POST 3Original post

Congrats on the weight! What all did you remove or replace to get that?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, I'm not exactly sure. I guess those door panels, airbags, and speakers are really heavy When I compared some of the suspension parts to the stock items removed, I was surprised at the difference in weight. It all adds up. It still has the stock bumper shocks that are good for 50 lbs, so I will probably be underweight by the end of the year.

POST 7Original post

Not bad but depressing for us street guys who aspire to be in the 2900lb range. Not sure I can get there now with airbags, door pannels, and radio. My brother picked up an FD RX-7 in the off season as a track car that we've been working on a bit and it weighed 2802 absolutely full of fuel, spare tire still in the car, stock seats, sunroof and everything. I'm may be chasing him this season! While we're on the topic of weight is there a standard for how much fuel should be in the car when giving a general weight? Andy

POST 8Original post

Andy, that's totally up to you. But I have my car weighed at my benchmark for a single 20min track session (1/4 tank). Also, gas weighs less than water and comes in at about a tic over 6#. You can figure out the weight of "x" number of gallons that way as well, or if you want to subtract it back out.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lost 8 more pounds this afternoon. Emptied the windshield washer fluid.

POST 10Original post

Mark, That's excellent. It's not easy to get to that weight with a cage. Good idea on the windsheild fluid but you're down to saving onces now. If you look at my old 996 race car the filler tub is glued in place so it looks right but the washer bottle and tubing is all gone. I look forward to looking the car over at RA. Jim
