Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi...got a question. Will need to take my MY99 996 in sometime within the next 6mos for 15k "reccommened" service...the local dealer/service guys at HBL quoted me about $800 for the whole thing...while Porsche of Silver Spring (Tischer's) quoted me $575 approx. Why the big difference in price quotes? Do they dealers do that much a superior job than an independant mechanic/technician? Anyway any referrals of shops in the area with experience that do good work would be appreciated. Also please include contact #'s and/or addresses as I got a name of a shop once but no number and couldn't find it listed in directory assistance or white pages. Thanks for the input before hand...it's nice to know what prev P-car owners think and have experienced since I am still a newbie. I've been to Intersport (Spring Hill Road in Vienna, VA) for small tweaks but like you am a relative newbie here. I now have an extended warranty and Intersport said they accept my policy. I've also heard great things about Curry's. There's a Porsche vs. BMW hp shootout at Curry's today; if I can get the clan together in time I'll make a run up there. mdrob...I will second that (just moved from McLean) and the general consensus is Intersport is the place to go.
