Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know it is not a good idea to take new tires to the track, but I have no choice. My old tires were so bald, I probably would have corded within the first run. Anyone know how many miles before the release compounds from new tires are scrubbed off enough not to be a factor?

POST 2Original post

Usually around 500 miles. Go out and do some heat cycling to speed the process up.

POST 3Original post

You didn't hear this from me, but an old trick is to lightly - and I mean lightly - brush the treads w/a light solvent (rubbing alcohol). Don't do the sidewalls (will likely discolor), and be sure to brush w/water to rinse off the alcohol after a minute or so. As I said, it's an old trick - (but it does make sense) J

POST 4Original post

Jeff, this doesn't sound like half as much fun as a couple of laps on the track.

POST 5Original post

Viken, Ya got me there.... J PS - there was a time I was doing that tire trick & drying some Pagids in the oven - at the same time - of course, that's when the landlord stopped over & was very concerned about the smell (s).....
