1999 996, has seepage on the passenger side, next to the "VarioCam" inscription, rear of engine. There is a small pipe, soft like a drinking straw, about as thick as one too, that runs from the cam sprocket cover to the block, about 8 inches long. The oil seems to be "sweating" out of this pipe's insertion. There are no oil marks on the floor. Is it time for me to freak? RMS has been fixed. Thanks for any help.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found this post while searching for an oil leak similar to the one I just discovered on my 2000 996. There were no responses to the original post. Has anyone else had experience with this leaK? Thanks,

cam solenoid seal, simple DIY DIY LINK - Rennlist here is a link to my DIY - does that look right?
Or the solenoid itself, solenoid is about 1000$ expect to pay 14-16 hours labor
OUCH!!!! I hope it is not the solenoid!
Even if it is the solenoid, it's such a slow leak that you shouldn't have to worry about it. Dealer tech was talking to me about it once and said that it's most often just leaking out along the wire going into the solenoid and that it is not at all worth worrying about. And if a dealer tech says "Don't worry about it" for a job that'll get him a fair bit of cash I wouldn't worry about it.
