Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was at a Porsche club autocross with my boys last month, when an awning blew over. It put a dent the size of a pea on my roof above the driver's door. It also put a small gouge on the top of my door panel (barely visible). I have it at a local shop for the repairs. My insurance it covering the repairs...to the tune of over $4,000. The door panel and door seal are almost $3,000 of the bill. I am applying that to having the aerokit painted and I will help with the install. I am the only person that can even find the nick on the door panel and the door seal has a small crack that the shop owner had to point out to me. I am really excited. The aerokit has been sitting on a shelf in my garage for over four years. My Maserati project has been consuming all of my disposable income for the past couple years. This is like an early Christmas present. For those of you that aren't old timers here, I rebuilt my car after another rennlister had a dash fire, the insurance totalled it, and he sold it to me. It is the second 996 burn victim that I have rebuilt. A MK1 996 GT3 is my dream car, soon I will have the closest thing to that dream, that I can own in America. I can't wait.

POST 3Original post

As always, it's nice to hear from you Mark, looking forward to your aero project. No doubt you have to commit to the "M" project or it will languish forever. Would love to see pics of both projects.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Mark. Here are a couple before pictures and a couple of the "money pit". Thanks Steve. Here are a couple more of the Maserati.

POST 5Original post

wow Mark, you've come along way on that project... hows the engine rebuild doing? Is it running? btw, congrats on the aero! finally....

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Ferdinand, thanks. The engine runs fine....it was rebuilt prior to storage. It started up, prior to me pulling the car apart. I had to rebuild the fuel and brake system. I am still waiting on the transmission. I have to have a small part (smaller than a dime) fabricated before it can be completed. It took me almost two years to locate a NOS second gear. Parts are hard to locate and very pricey. I just broke the end cap on my starter solenoid (about an hour ago)...the only one that I can find, so far, is for a 250 Ferrari...$650...ouch.

POST 7Original post

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I will post pictures this week. The wheels are Kinesis...sorry I don't know the model.

POST 13Original post

Nice to hear from you with the updates coming and the Mas looks great to how close are you to completion % wise.

POST 14Original post

That Maserati is sexy. What model and year is it? Phil

POST 15Original post

Thanks for the info on the wheels! Do you have any close-ups of them? Both cars are beautiful by the way.

POST 16Original post

Good to hear from you, Mark! I've wondered recently where you've been. Good luck getting the aerokit installed!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Steve, Thanks. The Maserati is about 90 percent done....or about $10,000 more to throw at it. Phil, thanks. It is a 1959 3500 GT. Down South, thanks. The Maserati has been monopolizing my time and attention. It should be done and gone by the end of summer. The Porsche is my dream car....the Maserati is just a project (although if I could afford to keep it, I would. It will be painful to part with). Dotframe, here is your close up.

POST 18Original post

Thanks for the pic! Those are fantastic looking wheels.
