Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Recently bought my first Porsche, a 2004 C2. I love the thing probably more than I should. I spent a lot of time researching 996s before I moved ahead with the purchase, and I got more info here than anywhere else. Thanks to everyone.

POST 2Original post

The great thing about this site is the sheer volume of information available. Congratulations on your new car, you will be nagged to display some pics of your new baby.

Here's a picture of her (I think it's a she, at least my wife thinks so). Atlas Grey with grey interior. M030 suspension and Fabspeed exhaust. I just bought some aluminum pedals. Why? Because all I do is think about the car, and I can only drive it on weekends (live in Manhattan), so I had to do something!

POST 8Original post

looking GREAT !! We have all been there, the frequesnt trips to the garage, the laying awake thinking "finally" and the standing nakid in front of it - did I just say that out loud Well, I never did that - but you know what I mean... (I think) LOL

'03 and '04 are great years and a lot of 911 for the money. Atlas is a personal favorite. The US market is spoiled with such a wide selection of exceptional 911's at price points that are unheard of in other countries.

POST 11Original post

Honey..... Honey? ..... HONEY !!! WTF are you doing in the garage..... Awe, the good old days

POST 13Original post

Atlas is beautiful, wish my car was atlas whenever I break out the polisher (my 5 series is and it never needs a wash, you should see what the black porsche looks like after my recent montreal road trip). Seems there are more 996 rennlisters in ny ny these days, we'll have to do a 212 get together Best, Hans

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hans, do you know of any good driving areas around NYC? For the past couple weekends, I've just been randomly driving around CT and NJ. I would love to find a road that is actually fun to drive on. Possibly even more fun than the Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel...(makes me wince every time I drive along that tortured road). Thanks

I can make a couple of suggestions but they are 1-2 hours away. Try the Bear Mountain area or the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. Both have wonderful roads (try Route 611 along the Delaware Water Gap) that these cars are built for. I used to drive mine into Manhattan occasionally and it would hurt to hit some of those potholes. In fact my first set of rims were bent from those roads so be cautious. Oh and congrats on the car! I love mine more than I should as well!

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the great suggestions. I remember Bear Mountain from years ago, driving a friend's E46 M3 at a pretty rapid pace. I will check out Rte 611 too, looks like 78 is the best way to get there, and that's a nice fast highway, usually. Bummer about all the rain forecast for the weekend, I was hoping to drive a couple hundred miles and then test out the golf-bag carrying ability of the 911. I know that people claim it can handle 2...
