Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

02 cab - 18K miles - certified pre-owned, perfect condition @$59K. pkg that includes bose, xenon headlights, 18" rims, power heated seats, new tires, dealer tellin me new clutch as well....California car, of course has warranty for 2 years which I like. Seems fair, but I'm more concerned that 997 will crush resale 3 years from now. thoughts?

POST 2Original post

That's a little on the high end. But from a dealer, that's not too bad. I'm assuming that it is from a Porsche dealer. The warranty, what the dealer pays to Porsche, is about $1,600. So you are really paying about $57.4 for the car, which isn't too bad considering the car only has 18K miles. With regard to depreciation, the car has already taken its biggest hit in its first year. From here on out, I would just expect to see normal yearly depreciation. One last thing - does it have PSM? This cannot be retrofitted. If it doesn't, think twice. Personally, I would not buy one without it. But there are many that would. It's just a personal preference.

POST 3Original post

I just bought an '02 C2 cab with 24,000mi - similar options....paid $57,000 - private sale. No warranty after 10/05. I ended up buying an extended warranty so the price was similar to what you're seeing when all was said and done. I did get an extra set of rims with some Blizzak LM22s included in the deal - probably worth about $1200-1500 extra. I looked ALL over to find the right car and your price seems in line with what I've seen.

POST 4Original post

Price doesn't seem that bad, but a little on the high side. The extra warranty is reassuring. I just bought an '02 C4 Cab with Nav, Heated Seats, Full Leather, 18" Sport Design Wheels, Comfort Seats, Advanced Technic Package with the CD Changer and 25,000 mi for effectively $58,000. Also got a Porsche Child Seat. Boy will the kids have fun when the car finally arrives! I looked for quite a while at the various channels through which these cars are sold and was surprised at how few cars (later model, at least) on eBay actually sold because of high reserve prices. It seems that eBay sellers (whom are mostly dealers) use it more of an advertising medium and end up selling their cars off-line. I was vacillating between an '02 Cab and an '04 C4S Cab. It surprised me how much the C4S cabs were being sold for considering that the 997 C4's are just around the corner. Had plenty of sellers who wouldn't back off of $93-95K. Considering that '04 turbo cabs were starting at about $108K, it made it a tough sell. Best of luck in your car search. David
