Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, My son and I are taking a road trip next week from NY to Cleveland to visit the Rock and Roll hall of fame and then on to Detroit to see the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield village, then on to Chicago to visit some relatives. Any tips from those of you that may have visited these destinations. Yes, we are taking the 996 too! Thanks, Bob

POST 2Original post

Hi Bob, Sounds like a great road trip...I'll be making a similar trip this fall. As for advice, here's some from a guy who lived in Grosse Pointe, MI for 18 years... STAY OFF OF I-94 IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. This freeway makes the Cross Bronx look like smooth black asphalt. It's a killer, and will shake the sh*t out of even the best cars. Aside from that, enjoy Michigan's 70+ MPH speed limits...

One tip. If the french toast comes with powedered sugar on it, eat it. Maybe you would have had to of seen "Road Trip" to get that....sorry.

Bob, The rock n roll hall of fame is great, be sure to check everything out! It takes a while to walk thru the entire thing, but lots n lots of neat stuff. Hmm trying to think of what else thats interesting en route. We'll i'm just off I-80/90 before you cross into the indiana border. Edit: yes I-94 is JUNK, i was just on it and thru chicago this past weekend. Its horrid. BTW, Indiana is now a posted 70mph as well! Enjoy!

Thanks guys, anyone ever been to the Henry Ford Museum?

POST 6Original post

The Ford museum is one of my all time favorites. No flashy display, just cars w history. Kind of like a huge garage full of history. Ford has a tour of F150 factory also there (haven't been to that one yet). The MI lakeshore is a great drive perhaps on the way back from Chicago. Drive along the coast starting with South Harbor and up to MacKinaw Isle. It's a 2-3 day trip though but the scenary is great. Stop by Ann Arbor to visit U of Michigan campus. It's a little crowded but have some good B&B and restaurants on Main St.

POST 7Original post

if you want an interesting trip in Michigan I suggest the Henry Ford Museum. Next the Uof Mich and the BIG football stadium in Ann Arbor. US23 north to I96 west. Next Michigan State University for another big school with BIG stadium in East Lansing. Next continue west on I=96. Grand Rapids has Meier gardens and Gerry Ford Presidential Museum Further west on I96 you'll come to Muskegon. There is a high speed ferry there to Milwaukee. It is sometimes hard to get a reservation. Google "lake express" If you can't get on the Muskegon ferry go north on US31 to Ludington, exploring the lake shore as you go. Ludington has a large ferry to Manitowoc WI. Then south in WI to Chicago. As for speed limits, you will like Michigan. Everybody goes at least 80 Good luck. Let us know your experiences.

Oh yeah, forgot about the ferry to WI. You should do the lakeshore and then take the ferry. Don't miss Mackinaw Isle though. Been there twice and I'm in CA!!
