Yes a Techequipe rollbar will mount in either a 996 or a 997. Why? Well a 997, is actually a 996 chassis with a wider track. The floorpan, roof structure and rear seats areas are unchanged. You won't get into any differences until you start looking at the subframes and suspension mounting points. Both the front and rear seat mounting and belt points are the same for both models. Hence, rollbars and seats can bolt into either model.
