Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since i'm running out of things to do, is it worth getting an aftermarket throttle body and then getting my chip tuned for it? (i need an ECU tune anyhow, so i figured why not shell out the 500$ or whatever the throttle body might cost and then do both at once)? it should be good for increase airflow (and a negligable amount of hp/torque)? edit: FVD wants 350$ for theirs and advertise something like 6% increase in airflow.

POST 2Original post

Why not? Your going to get a custom chip made anyway.

POST 3Original post

DeadEye - email me the link of this throttle body to [email removed] . Interested in seeing it. Thanks

POST 4Original post

Gemballa also had or still does have a throttle body upgrade, as part of their power package FWIW. I never got the opportunity to discuss it with Heinz, but he always said " you will not find any better programs (in the context of ecu tuning), only the same." Gotta love the confidence behind the product.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

dan, i can't email you the pic because its in some kind of java script that won't let me copy/paste. if you goto www.fvd.de and goto online shop, or just put in this part# 220 110 905 it will pop up. i just double checked, and its 350$ but you have to trade in your stock one.

POST 6Original post

Did you ever buy the TB? The add says not for E-gas. I am a newbie so please no flames, but doesn't an MY-00 996 have E-gas?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

C43, i didn't end up with the E-gas yet because i'd rather wait for another year or two and drop in a used 996TT motor/tranny (tuned of course). That'll gimme the stupendous power i want from it.

POST 8Original post

I thought E-gas is drive by wire. Does a 2000 996 have E-gas? I feelstupid but I have to get this straight. If you do not have E-gas yet, what year is your car? Sorry for the questions.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

o rite..mine is a 1999 so no e-gas. egas was only on 2000 and up cars and is the most homosexual thing in the world IMO (well not the nature of the e-gas itself, but the fact that porsche has it setup in such a way that you can't heel-toe properly always)

POST 10Original post

By the way, when this happens, simply do a screen capture. Push control and print screen and then open a phot editing app mspaint (comes with windows so you all have it unless you have a mac) and hit control v or paste. Then crop as necessary. On a mac, screen captures are command-shift-3 or command-shift-4 to copy a selection.

POST 11Original post

Here's a screen cap from that site that I resized to be smaller and fit the screen properly.

POST 13Original post

what kind of hp/tq increase do you get with the throttle body?

POST 14Original post

it's gonna be tough to get egas to work with non egas. i guess you would have to go with the engine, full wiring harness and ecu. big job. do your homework. easier thing, and maybe cheaper, would be to get a used TT and rip out the front diff.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^ yeah i've looked at a couple of options, depending on the price of a turbo in two years, you guys will find out which route i'm going with Turbo engines with tranny and etc can be had for around 15-20G's US (which is almost the same in canadian dollars these days) so its still cheaper than buying a turbo plus my car is light. I mean...think about it....a 2700 lb car with 610RWHP....mmmmm....doghnuts

POST 16Original post

sorry, there's no way your car is 2700 lbs. you'll have to gut the interior (that means no ICE for you) no sunroof and no sunroof. the fiagt2 porsche gt3rsr's are 2600lbs, that's a race car with CF doors and with the doors you will need a full cage with nascar side intrusion bars. for a street car? yes putting a TT engine in my car is the plan too but it inevitably will be a track only car. you gotta shop stateside cuz TT's can be had for low 60s. think about it 35K for you car + 20 K for TT engine = 55K. install would be another 20K hmmmmmm......... btw, what's with that RETARD comment about homosexuals anyway? that's gotta be one of the most stupid comments i've seen on the board

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what comment about homosexual man? doughnuts? i meant the round pastry you get at the coffee shop. (in the simpsons homer often goes mmmmm....*insert object here* to great humerous effect) as for my car: your probably right because u gotta add in fluids and take me out of the car to hit that weight, i'm just trying to guestimate based on the sticker on my door, minus the stuff that i took out and added in. as long as i'm sub 3000lbs i'll be pretty happy tho cause its not the end of the world..i just don't think i could live without some carpeting in a daily driver.
