I bought a 2003 996 Carrera about a month ago. It had 9K miles on it, and is black on black. The Audi S4 is no longer, and I must say the Porsche is one hell of a machine. The Audi was a fantastic car - fast and had room for 4. However the P car feels like ONE piece of machinery, whereas the Audi felt like everything worked separately. Does anyone know about an XM radio retrofit? I have the remainder of the factory warranty as well as the extended CPO Porsche warranty. I don't want to do anything to void this, but I miss my XM. Any ideas would be appreciated. Chirag

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. First off Pics..second ..welcome to the list. Now to your question your car has what is called the MOST bus for the radio if XM is what you want/need you can not retrofit the stock unit and a separate xm radio. What I have done is remove the factory unit and install a MP3/DVD/XM radio unit.Keep in mind by doing this I had to rewire the car with a separate amp, and new speakers. Maybe some of the other guys have done this , But to my knowledge it cannot be done with out a fm module. Good luck and post the dam pics...
This is the only one that I have right now...
welcome and congrats on a great car!
Welcome! Get Sirius. It had better sports coverage and of course, Stern!!!
Welcome! Nice ride!
Hi Chirag, car looks great, and welcome! (Say Hi to Elvis for me - I've been to Graceland, and I'm sure the mis-spelling on the headstone is proof he's alive!)
that's a nice shot of the car, congrats.
Chirag - Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm and congrats on getting your black beauty! Mice Dicks.... er, I mean.... Nice Pic! I recommend that your first mod should be to install clear side markers (lights). About $25 - $30 and a five minute DIY install. Can't wait to see more pics of your car.
Congratulations on your purchase. This is a great Porsche site with lots of knowledgeable posters. Just be wary of a couple of posters who'll suggest that your engine is about to blow at any second.
LOL....
Chirag - welcome! I bought my 2003 last month and I think the one you bought was one that I was considering. There were about 5 good deals to look at between TN/NC/SC/GA/FL that I found. Tim K. - Where can you get the clear side markers?
Chirag, Welcome to the circus nice ride
welcome to the crazyhouse
Gravedgr - You can get these at any P-car dealer or you can contact Eric at BumperPlugs.com (a Rennlist sponsor) and he will set you up. There are a few DIY posts with before and after pics on the 996 Forum. You can do a search on side markers to find those threads.
Sweet looking 996. Welcome and congrats!!
Looks awesome - I have Black as well, and I love that color...especially when it's still as clean as yours in the picture. It's a bit more work to maintain, but it looks great. Congrats and welcome!
Welcome friend! -Darren
Thanks Tim - I'm checking out bumperplugs.com now!
Welcome and Congratulations! No info on sat radio. The engine notes with the PSE is the music to my ears. I actually pulled the base module of the bose sys from the car to lighten it some more ...plus I still refuse to pay $$ to listen to the radio.
