I'm looking at buying a 996 from a fellow rennlister in Orange County. Is there anyone in that geographical area that could take a look at it for me?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Jesus, the internet really brings out the tinfoils hats.
The vendor's home is located in Irvine and he works in Costa Mesa. Is that close to anyone?
I live about 10 miles from Irvine and Costa Mesa. I will look at the car for you, but can only tell you tell you the non mechanical condition of the car (paint, tires, interior, carpets, mileage, cleanliness) I would suggest if you take this further, you may want an Indy to look at the car and access the mechanical condition of the car ( I could suggest several indys in the area) I am a member of PCA here in Orange County and have pretty good connections with the Porsche crowd here. Let me know.
Sorry I got your PM and I'm outta town, Irvine and Costa Mesa are to far from work but it looks like you have someone to look.
No luck, vendor sold car to dealer on Tuesday. But there is another interesting candidate, also happens to be in Orange County (does everyone drive a Porsche there?). I will inquire as to location.
Our local Orange Coast Region PCA club has over 400 members. It does seem that everybody drives a Porsche here. Buying a Porsche from So Cal, means little or no rust, no winter driving, no salt, most are garaged, however some will have high mileage, due to the distances you have to drive around here. Another good thing as well, we have many GREAT Indys here, who know what they are doing.
I can take a look for you, but I am no expert so my observation may not be very useful. If you are serious about a specific car, I'd suggest having the selling take it to Hergesheimer for a PPI and provide you with the result.
