Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, after an arduous journey, the C4S finally hit my driveway on Thursday. I've hardly been out of it since, and was planning a wash/wax and photo shoot, but we're foiled by the weather today! Anyway, for those interested in such things, here are some first impressions: 1) I'm coming over from a 1994 964 Cab, and the driving experience is incredibly different and remarkably familiar. I don't know how they did it, but they did. I feel completly at home behind the wheel. 2) This thing is FAST. I love the kick in second gear that you get when you wind out the 964, but you get that same kick in the 996 in THIRD, and when you look down, you're going 90! 3) Steering - absolutely phenomenal - I can't believe how it tracks, and how tight it feels. Wow. 4) Ride - pretty choppy, but in a good way. You have the sense that you're driving a race car slightly de-tuned for the street. If I'd wanted a Lexus, I would have bought a Lexus. 5) Aesthetics - wow, this thing is so unbelievably gorgeous. They nailed it with the C4S - proportions are perfect, and it looks mean. It also sits in marked contrast to EVERYTHING else around it. I'm going to have to get used to this one, it feels a bit wierd to stick out like a sore thumb. Porsches are a dime a dozen in Southern Cal, but there's still 10,000 everything else compared to the Porsche. 6) Interior - I watched with interest this weeks thread on full leather dash, and one of the complaints on the 996 has been the poor quality materials. Not in this car, it looks first class. So, we're starting off good - car is perfect, still smells new, and looks fantastic.

POST 3Original post

Nice! Although I can't comment on the 964 comparison, I agree with all of your other impressions. My C4S has exceeded my expectations.

POST 4Original post

Indeed, they hit it with the C4S. Enjoy your car, take your time with the mods, get to know the car first.

POST 5Original post

Looking sharp, congrats!! I came from a 964 too, the 996 is a great car to take place of the 964 although you will miss the raw feeling of the aircool.

POST 6Original post

Congratulations Rick - I know exactly where you're coming from with my new '04. Your car looks great. This is my first Porsche and the taut ride really surprised me - the thing tracks like it's on rails. And fast, VERY! Happy New Year - enjoy. Phil

POST 8Original post

She looks amazing!!! You are right. Porsche did nail it with the C4S. In my opinion the C4S looks like what all 996s should look like. I really like how the red from the tailights wrap all the way around the back of the car like the older modles. And of course they have hips.... got have that big rear end!

POST 9Original post

welcome to the C4S lovefest.....Congratulatiuons she looks great..

POST 11Original post

I really did not fall in love with the 996 C4S until I turned off the PSM at NHIS. Then I knew I had a winner!

POST 12Original post

Anyone know how many by year 2002-2005 were made of the 996 C4S ? Great looking car...........I never get tired of it..................

POST 13Original post

Congratulations on your new car man! Welcome to the water-cooled club! (Despite what the 993 guys will tell you, we arn't the world thing since the plague )

POST 14Original post

To really love it, get an X73, total transformation!

POST 16Original post

x51 is power kit.....x73 is suspension upgrade.

POST 18Original post

x73 is OEM, and non adjustable from what I understand. PSS9s are fully adjustable. Both are great choices. Depends on whether you want to stay OEM or not....
