Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Big fan of Eric's work at Bumperplugs. Here's the before and after pic of the new bumperettes I got yesterday from him. Color is slate grey. The before pic is outside and the second pic is in the garage so the lighting is messing with the color but you get the idea

POST 2Original post

POST 4Original post

Dell, Two comments here: 1) The painted bumperettes look great!!!! 2) After 5 years, I can't believe you FINALLY took some advice from me (see link)! Bumperettes for Dell Now don't burst my bubble by telling me it was purely coincidental.

POST 12Original post

Looks Great Dell! Don't worry Tim, I won't be following your advice.

POST 13Original post

Dell, the bumperettes look great! Was it a difficult job? I assume you have to remove the rear bumper cover?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No removal and it takes literally 2 minutes to remove them and then an other 2 minutes to reinstall them. There is a tab on the bottom of the bumperettes that pops off and reveals a T40 screw that needs to be loosed for removal. Viola!

I know! I gave up on you last year, you damn hard-headed Brit!

POST 16Original post

+1 It's the look my bodyshop guy talked me into when he was putting on the back bumper. I thought at first I would go without (Euro-look?), but he said they would look better painted. I went with his opinion and glad that I did. Rudy wheels05.jpg

POST 17Original post

My 02 came to me from the PO with painted bumperettes. Was that stock by 2002, or did he have it done?

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7473492

It would look good without but (1) they serve a purpose; and (2) you'd need a new bumper that does not have the cutouts for the bumperette brackets; and (3) you'd have to cut the brackets off for them so the new bumper would fit.

POST 19Original post

The '02 did come with the newer plastic shells painted, the C4S and Turbo units through the balance of the 996 model years were black pebble texture rubber...we deliver them body color, smooth and still flexible. GREAT shot Dell! Thanks.
