Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have found a few over the years. This one looks too good to be true. I am not in any way shape or form affiliated with this, nor have I called. The number is a cell phone. Be carefull... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/1032759808.html

POST 2Original post

Looks like the listing was already removed by the author, huh? not sure what's going on...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is the associated picture. The price is $5,500.... from the grieving widow. It was just listed at 9:30pm yesterday.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here is the text of the ad: "My late husband passed away and due to financial constraints I need to sell his car thats been burried for years in the garage. Its like a dark blue. He bought it promising he would fix it but its more of a waste of space. Would like to get $5500 for it. There is a box of parts with it. You haul away I dont know if it runs but I need help getting it out. Please call [phone removed]"

POST 6Original post

I guess you show up with 5500 bucks and get hit on the head with a shovel

POST 7Original post

more real than you think... that was going on for awhile with Craigslist.

POST 8Original post

Looks like BS to me. If the widow truly had no idea what that car was, she'd be trying to either give it away or maybe even pay someone to take it. No way she'd ask $5,500 for what should look like a rust heap to her.

POST 9Original post

An old widow that carries a cell phone and writes like a valley girl might be another red flag.

Yup, In Long Island I believe.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had a little trouble with the widow being able to post a picture on Craigslist with the license plate number photo shopped out. If she had the title, she would also be able to figure out what year the car is. It does look similar to another barn find that I'm familiar with. My brother probably wanted to clobber me over the head with a shovel, when I was giving him grief about the state of his garage.

POST 14Original post

How is the restoration coming along? Thread hijack I guess. Maybe you could answer in your original thread?

Was there not some of that going on in Michigan, too? Advertising a boxster or 911 for some absurdly low price, then mugging the buyer and stealing the cash they said to bring for a deposit. Bunch of 17 & 18 year olds, IIRC.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 6283172

yup, thats the one... out of control!

POST 18Original post

The OP was a spoof from the Barn find in England (or spain, I forget) it has been on the internet for about a year... the story is the same but the facts are not close to the reality.. I found alot out about it when it was first exposed. This however IS Real ! LINKY Just sold this last week at auction for $4.4M

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 6283436

That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks.

POST 20Original post

Not to hijack, but I saw an episode of Chasing Classic Cars, where they found a similar 57S in a barn here in the US somewhere in CT. Wild how two of these would be found in different barns!? Anyone see this episode?

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 6285557

I saw that as well. I think I have seen every episode of that show

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Deckman, here is a teaser on the Maserati. I will update the original post in the next week. I am working on the bright work and the paint. The pictures show some of the bright work & paint that I have not started, and some that I did the first step on. I still need to do all the bright work and three steps (cleaner/cut, polish, wax) on the entire car.

POST 23Original post

Looks like you are removing some oxidized paint Mark...nice job. I think you have more patience than I do . GL with your "M" project. Keep the pics coming.

POST 24Original post

looking good Mark.... makes me want a project car.
