Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can the cabriolet owners please clarify if the cab is molded out composit material or formed out of metal? TIA

POST 3Original post

Definitely metal, but pretty lightweight. Aluminum possibly.

POST 5Original post

Yep. A magnet doesn't stick to mine. Must be aluminum.

POST 6Original post

74lbs of Aluminum, steel, rubber, glass, wires, cloth and paint

POST 7Original post

I have a black 996 cab and found a green cab hardtop locally for $300. What do you think of wrapping it with black carbon fiber vinyl (3m Di-Noc, 1080, other suggestions?). Glossy? Matte?

POST 8Original post

Hmmm! Mine has a gouge in it from a little accident taking it out of the truck, and it definitely isn't aluminum. Some sort of composite that looks a lot like fiberglass.

POST 9Original post

fpb111 is correct. The hardtop's are aluminum and weigh about 73 lbs. relinuca

That might look pretty good, but I think you would need some other parts to be CF also (outside mirrors, spoiler lip, etc).

You could pimp your ride by covering it with vinyl like the old 1970s Cadillacs used to do:
