In anoter thread: You know something weird? A lot of people in Bob's thread claim part of the problem is that the he didn't buy from a Porsche dealer. So, next time I browsed Autotrader, I noticed that only one of the FIVE Chicagoland dealers has an early 996 listed: Ed Napleton Porsche has a Ocean Metallic/Savannah Beige car. That's it. Scanning the ads for "any distance," it appears that the only certified Porsche dealerships (mentioned on PCNA's site) with 996s on the lot are on the west coast. What's up with that? No one's coming off lease or trading in their 996 on a 997? Emanuel

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got back from the dealership with my 99 996 doing the 45K service. I asked a question about an extended warranty and the response I received was that Porsche will only warranty cars for seven years from production. Soooo I was lucky to get a 2 yr certified warranty when I purchased the car on Dec 31, 2003. After that, my guess is that a 99 won't get a fully 2 year warranty.
