So, I've got this project going with the C4S. I've got all the parts accumulated over several months, all the know-how thanks to you all, and I'm willing to spend the whole next several months into spring if needed. I've got the place rigged out for ease and facility of work, got all the protective mats, towels, napkins and what not to protect the rest of the car as I work. I am bound and absolutely determined that I, an enthusiast amateur, will do a dang better job than any high priced Porsche tech out there. I get to the part where I start on electricals. So, I open the hood, disconnect the negative battery, wrap the connectors in noncondutive rubber, and close the hood. As I press down on the hood and hear that reassuring thunk as it locks, I realize I am, indeed, an amateur. Heh-heh. Good thing I have chargers to hook up so I can unlock it again. Onward and upward. Never give up, never surrender. Maybe just a little humbler.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

And just what are you doing?
nice start! Too funny. So tell us, what is the project? PSS9? PSE? I had a similar start to a project on my Range Rover where I killed the battery with the doors locked. Could not open the door with the key to get inside to pop the hood to jump start. I wanted to kill something. Hope it looks up for you. Nice looking rides in the avatar!
I seldom laugh very hard when someone has a goof. After all....what goes around, comes around. Some day it will be my turn in the barrel! Glad your error was easy to rectify.
I could see that happening to me so easy. Thanks for sharing. Paul
Thanks for the compliments and words of encouragement. I'm not doing anything superhuman, just something for a weekend Porsche-tech wannabe. I'm putting in GT3 seats, tequipment roll bar, and 6 point harness. I originally have power seats, so just disconnecting and plugging involves a mess of wires. The prep for the roll bar install is a bit tedious but necessary. Some say the roll bar install is not an easy DIY. I'm gonna do it slow and easy. Worse comes to worse, I can always drive it to my P shop and have them finish it. Hell would have frozen by then, though .
