Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I can't open the engine lid with the electrically activated switch. (Yes, the battery is fully charged.) So where is the emergency release located on an '04 996 and how is it accesssed? (I did a search, but the only thing I found related to a '99 car with a mechanical rather than electrical release -- it said the cable is behind the left tail light. Same for later electrically switched latch cars?) Thanks, Andy

POST 2Original post

My 02 C4S has a cable located just under the left tail light, requires a soft tool to pry it out. It is there because I positioned it there, it was initially behind the tail light which is not possible to access with the lid closed.

POST 3Original post

My 04 C2 has a release behind the left rear tail light. I'll be dahmed if I know how to get it out witout breaking the light.....
