Is all I've got to say! Then I went for a ride around the track with a very experienced driver who's done about 14 events in his. Amazing car. The level of grip was astounding. The sound of the engine was wonderful. I barely fit in the damn thing and good thing or I might be at the dealership today.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I considered an Elise seriously before purchasing a C4S. The Elise is a great car but very fragile and narrowly focused. After monitoring the Elise Talk board for several months I decided the Elise isn't for me. Obviously I don't regret my decision. The 911 is so well developed it feel like a privilege to drive one.
A C4S and the Elise are 2 totally different cars with totally different purposes. No way I would take one over my C2. For the track however, it would be a no contest situation.
If you base your decision on performance alone, I know you have to re-think that thought. I had a deposit down and an estimated delivery date for an Elise for a track car/weekend fun car. Bought the 987S instead because it was better on the track than the Elise.
are they fast? or does it just corner well?
I saw one at Summit Point recently. As far as style goes, it reminded me of a Manx dunebuggy. Ub
are they fast? or does it just corner well? __________ fast up to 100 or so mph, top end is a bit strained. they corner very well, better than 987, 986, gt3 etc.
And then came the Cayman S . . . (or at least I hope). I just picked up a brochure at the dealer. Since then, I have been repeating to myself: 1. I will not put down a deposit. 2. I will not order one with as few options as possible 3. I will not strip everything out of a brand new car 4. I will not install a full cage, racing seats, fire supression, accusump . . .

Why not just buy a purpose-built or well-prepared race car?
I saw an Elise a few days ago. Thought I would be impressed when I heard about them. NOT. Man that thing was ugly like a kit car? I've always liked Lotus but not this one. I don't care how fast it is as it will never outrun its looks.
Thought I would be impressed when I heard about them. NOT. Man that thing was ugly like a kit car? I've always liked Lotus but not this one. I don't care how fast it is as it will never outrun its looks. __________ i know. but you got to drive it. it puts my gt3 to shame!
I gotta admit. It's a different driving experience. But, c'mon, John. No way, no how can that itty bitty thing put your GT3 to shame. I'll take your GT3 anytime. In fact, can I?
I'll bet you're glad you picked up the 944 already. Makes repeating #1-4 easier! If not, I would hate to see what would happen if you were allowed near a sales agent. STEP BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND PUT DOWN THE BROCHURE
Is it fast.........is it fast where?......on a big track?....no, this is not a GT car. I'm sure it's a hoot to drive anywhere & probably fun around town and weekend autocrossing. Obviously it's light weight is top of the page.........only about 2000 lbs, so with 190 HP ea pony is pulling around 10 lbs. Many of us have cars with power-to-weight that's half that and we'd be lapping the Elise on a big track (but maybe not having as much fun ). BTW........on the looks.......pull up the Lotus site and look at the Seal-grey-like color........not half-bad IMHO. For me, I would not consider a light color, that just exaggerates every dark port, duct, fin and molding........there is definately 'alot happening' on this body.........In fact, I'm thinking of an early report by a auto-journalist after his 1st view of the SLR McLaren would apply here.......he said something like.... 'it appears there are at least 4 or 5 cars inside there.....fighting to get out' .
I think the look is totally color-dependent. There's a dealer very close to my house. My opinion: BRG: good Blue: ugly Red: ugly Yellow: OK McLaren Orange: Best Seal Grey metallic: good
I saw the seal gray version. If that's the good I'd hate to see the ugly. It did look so tiny that handling must be go-cart like which would be extremely fun. Wash my mouth out with soap but I'd actually drive a Corvette before that thing. Just my personal viewpoint.........no slams on anyone with an Elise or Vette.
palting, the GT3 is faster overall, but it doesn't corner like the elise is what i meant. Is it fast.........is it fast where?......on a big track?.... _____________ yes, at sears point and button willow it will tail gate GT3 all day. at laguns seca and willow spring probably not. Many of us have cars with power-to-weight that's half that and we'd be lapping the Elise on a big track (but maybe not having as much fun ). _______________ yes you can lap it b/c a high hp car has more speed on straights, but the cornering speed will not differ much and in fact elise may be faster. BTW........on the looks.......pull up the Lotus site and look at the Seal-grey-like color........not half-bad IMHO.
